Caring for your slime

We’ve put a lot of love into making your slime, and it needs your care to keep it in the best condition. Follow these care tips to ensure your slime stays fun and fresh.

Important reminder: Always play with clean hands! Before you start, wash your hands thoroughly and clean under your nails with soap. Also, make sure the surface you play on is clean before and after using your slime. Playing with dirty hands or on unclean surfaces can cause mold to grow on your slime.

What to do if your slime is sticky:

It’s normal for slime to arrive sticky or become sticky after use. Factors like temperature, body heat, and even how dry your skin is can affect its stickiness. Add some activator to your hands and work it into the slime.

Achieving the perfect slime texture:

To get the best feel from your slime, start by washing your hands and, if you're not using clear slime, apply some hand lotion. Slime may stick if your hands are warm, dirty, or dry.

To test the stickiness, leave the slime in its container and gently press your fingers into it. Poking it!

If it’s too sticky, follow these steps:

For clear slime, add a few drops of activator (a solution of borax powder and water) to your hands, then touch the slime. For other types of slime, add one or two drops of activator directly onto the slime in the container and gently fold it in. If the slime still feels too sticky, repeat this process until it reaches your desired texture. If clear slime becomes too liquid, often due to heat exposure, simply pour it into a mixing bowl and gradually add activator until it reforms into slime. Let it sit for a few days to clear up again.

How to play with slime:

When playing with your slime, move quickly as it can slip through your fingers. It’s a good idea to start with a small amount before handling a larger portion.

Always store your slime in its container with the lid on when not in use to keep it fresh.

Avoid mixing your slime with other slimes or adding other ingredients, as it may alter its texture and quality. Only add the items that come in your kit.

If your slime becomes runny or stickier than usual on a hot day, placing the container in the fridge for about 10 minutes before play can help. On a cold day, if your slime feels less stretchy, you can warm it up by transferring it to a microwave-safe bowl and heating it for 10 to 15 seconds. It should also just warm up with your hands if you knead it, pull it, and eventually stretch it.

Troubleshooting:

If your slime happens to get on your clothes or carpet, don’t worry—it won’t leave a stain and can be easily washed out. Hand wash clothes in very warm runny water, rubbing the clothing pieces together while in the water will loosen the glues fibres.

However, keep slime away from paper, as it can’t be removed once it sticks.

And remember, slime is for play, not for eating!
